Effects On The Psyche After Breast Augmentation Surgery

By Adriana Noton

Sooner or later, it seems like the topic of breast augmentation surgery is brought up by women. If they aren't thinking about it themselves, they are talking about one of their friends that are getting it. When breast augmentation surgery is done for the right reasons, the breast surgery impact on their psyche can be a huge boost. However, there are times when it may be wiser to hold off and wait just a little bit longer.

One of the first considerations that doctors will ask someone is why they are getting the surgery in the first place. Breast surgery should never be to make someone else happy. The only person that it is really for is the person that is receiving the implants. That other person can come and go into their lives, but the implant surgery is yours forever.

Some women who have smaller breasts get very frustrated because they cannot wear certain clothing styles that they want. Breast surgery for them seems like a logical move as it will boost their ego and add a little swagger to their strut. Every woman wants to be able to walk into a room in a sexy dress and be noticed.

One very common thing that is thrown around a lot in regards to breast surgery is the term self esteem. This is a dangerous thing to do because this coin definitely has two sides to it. The breast surgery impact on someone that has low self esteem may be the opposite of what they were expecting. This is not a cure all, rather an enhancement and should be looked at in that way.

If a woman has suffered through the loss of a breast because of breast cancer, it can be a very trying time. The loss of the breast will often make them feel less of a woman. This is a case where breast surgery will have a very positive impact as it gets the cancer victim back to feeling like their old self again.

The flip side of that coin is the woman who just feels bad about herself all the way around. Breast surgery is not going to fix that. While it may give her the appearance that she desires on the outside, inside still needs to be worked on. The reality of it is that counseling should be sought before ever getting breast surgery.

When someone is struggling through their life, this is not going to make any difference. It actually tends to work the other way for them. When they don't get the immediate reaction that they were expecting, they will get another surgery and another one to try and create the perfect body. This chase will never end and often ends in massive disappointment.

Any reputable surgeon will get a psychiatric evaluation done on a patient before most plastic surgery procedures take place. This is to ensure them that the person coming into their office is truly stable and can handle the surgery that they are about to get. If the patient is ready, they will hopefully be excited and satisfied with the final result. - 30292
