Homemade Cure For Dry Skin

By Linja Ilkowska

The best treatment for dry skin are homemade natural formulas. These are very popular and have been around forever. On this page you will find a few easy to use dry skin remedies. While these treatments for dry skin may not necessarily be a cure for dry skin, many people found relief from extremely dry skin conditions using some of these wonderful home remedies.

Dry Skin Care Tips - Home Remedies for Dry Skin

One of the most important home remedies for dry skin is to stop using soap. Even if you oily or normal skin, you should ever use soap on your face. All facial cleansers should be pH balanced. This means that your facial cleanser cream should have a pH that measures around 7 which is neutral.

The pH measures how acidic or alkaline your cleanser is. Normal healthy skin is usually in the range of 4.2 to 5.6 and a good facial cleanser cream should also be within this range. At this level, the acid mantle (the skin surface) is in good condition and is able to protect the skin from dehydration and other damaging elements of the environment like wind, sun or bacteria. A pH below 7 is considered more acidic and above 7 is more alkaline.

Other remedies for dry skin include an olive oil moisturizer massage. Olive oil moisturizer is a great homemade moisturizer and probably one of the most natural skin moisturizers you can find - -besides emu oil. This oil has a composition very similar to human skin so the body absorbs it well. Olive oil has a high percentage of unsaturated fats along with vitamins A and E. They help keep your skin healthy by blocking free radical damage. Apply the olive oil at on damp skin and massage well. This is best done at night time so as to let the oil soak into the skin.

Dry Skin Cure - Facial Mask

Try this great hydrating facial for dry skin a few times a week. This treatment for dry skin will also help exfoliate and clean pores so consider using it before going out for big night. Your skin will look fabulous! Here is what youll need for the Dry Skin Mask:

- 2 egg yolks - 1 teaspoon of honey

Whisk the egg yolks while slowly adding the honey and continue to mix. Then smooth the mixtures all over the face and neck. Be sure to have a face towel handy incase it drips. Leave on for30 minutes. If possible, it is best to lie down and just rest for a while until it starts to dry. It makes it easier because the mixture will tend to drip a bit. Wash off using warm water and a wash cloth and apply a good water-proof moisturizer

Dry Skin Treatments and Diet

A poor diet is quickly reflected on your skin and many people have found that changing their diet can really help cure dry skin. Consider getting more essential fats into your diet. These types of fats will not only help with dry skin, but for many people helps keep their weight in balance. Studies show that diet plays a crucial role in a variety of skin disorders, such as eczema and psoriasis. So try to concentrate on eating more olive oil, flax seed oil, or avocados. You dont have to eat a ton, a little goes a long way in improving the condition of your skin. Fish oils is also important not only for skin but for reduce weight, cholesterol, arthritic conditions and even improve mood for those suffering from depression. If you dont like fish oil, consider taking a good quality fish oil supplement. - 30292

Considering A Chemical Peel?

By Tracy Jessen

If you have been thinking about having a chemical peel there are some things you should be aware of and take into consideration. Any competent dermatologist is going to discuss these things with you before performing the procedure but if you are planning to do the peel yourself with an at home kit, you should fully consider all of these details. Take your time and read through this information before making your decision.

How does a chemical peel work?

First, lets discuss what a chemical peel actually is. A chemical peel is a procedure normally performed in a dermatologists office with qualified medical supervision. It consists of an acid-based product, often a fruit acid, in the form of a cream or gel being applied to the skin and allowed to sit for a predetermined amount of time before being removed along with the outer layer of skin.

The chemical peel is actually removing a layer of the oldest and therefore the most dead skin you have. It also flushes away all the oils from your skin, as well as all of the contaminates from your pores. How long the acid is left on the skin and how concentrated the chemicals are determines how deep they penetrate into the skin and how much skin is removed.

Things to Think About

One of the most important considerations to take into account is your skins natural sensitivity. If you find your skin to be prone to rashes or other irritations easily, then a chemical peel may not be for you because the chemical peel is going to make these problems worse, at least for several days until your skin has fully healed from the procedure.

It is highly advised that you remain indoors for a couple of days after any chemical peel but especially after a deep peel. The reason you need to stay inside is because your skin doesnt have any of the oils it normally produces and because the layer of skin tat is now exposed has not had a chance to adjust to the air and the unseen contaminates will be irritating to it which can cause problems for you.

What to do after your chemical peel.

After the procedure you should refrain from any outdoor activity for a couple of days. If you absolutely must go outside be sure to wear a liberal amount of sun block (not sun screen, sun block) to protect your skin. You should just make a concerted effort to not do anything that is going to irritate your skin like wearing makeup or using face creams or exfoliates. Try to even avoid touching your skin for the first day or two because the oil and dirt on your fingers could irritate the skin.

If you have the opportunity to discuss your options with a qualified dermatologist you should. If like many people, your finances simply dont allow for a professional consultation, you are left to do the research yourself. Take your time and do your research to find out if a chemical peel is right for you. - 30292

How You Don't Choose Your Anti Aging Skin Care Products

By Peter Albertonach

Anti aging products and skin care products is a massive industry. Millions or even billions of dollars are spent every year by women who are looking for anti aging skin care treatments that will keep their skin healthy and looking younger. And there are plenty of big companies in the anti aging and cosmetics industry just waiting to take advantage.

But many mainstream anti aging skin care products just don't work. The cosmetics and skin care industry is quite unregulated in the US, and so the big cosmetics and skin care companies can put any product on the market without first proving that it works, and even without showing that it is safe for the people who use it.

As a result there are many anti aging skin care treatments available that don't work, and contain suspect, or known to be dangerous ingredients.

But despite this they sell huge amounts of these products that advertise their ability to make you look younger. Everywhere you look you see products telling you they will make you younger and look great.

So how do you navigate through all the hype and choose a range of anti aging skin care treatments that actually work, and don't contain dangerous ingredients?

Here's how not to choose a good anti aging product.

1. Don't buy any skin care products that include fragrances in them. Now of course everyone likes to smell good, and the cosmetics companies pander to that, by adding fragrances to their products. Apply the cream and smell good and look young all at the same time.

Unfortunately there's 2 problems here. First the skin care cream or other anti-aging cream that you've bought probably won't do much to make you look younger.

And second, fragrances are just chemicals and not really all that good for you. It's the same with perfumes, but you just dab a little perfume here and there, you don't apply it to a wide area like you do with, say, a moisturizer.

2. Don't buy anti aging skin care creams with collagen in them. Now we all know that as we age our skin loses collagen, so surely we need collagen replaced to combat the sagging and wrinkling and lines that come with skin aging?

Yes and no. Yes we need to replace that lost collagen, and no adding it to the bottles of anti-aging products like those moisturizers and day creams and night creams and so on doesn't work. It doesn't work because collagen molecules are too large to penetrate the skin, and so it just stays on the surface.

The only way to increase the levels of collagen in our skin is to stimulate the skin to make more collagen itself.

So if putting the collagen in the bottle does nothing why is it in the bottle and why are those big name celebrities on TV telling you how well it works? Because they know there's lots of money to be made. That having collagen in the bottles sells lots of bottles.

Even if it doesn't do anything for you. Even if it's got suspect ingredients. It will sell.

That's marketing for you.

But there is a problem. It costs megabucks to pay that celebrity to go on TV and tell you how great the products are, and those fancy bottles cost a lot.

So the anti aging skin care treatment that really doesn't do much costs a bomb too. But that's ok because people believe that if it's expensive it must be good. So they pay anyway.

And there's lots more things to avoid when choosing a good anti-aging skin care treatment. That's 2, for more visit my website.

Does all this mean that you should give up on anti aging creams and products because they don't work? Not at all. There are excellent anti aging products that work fine, produced from ingredients from plants that are safe to use.

But they are produced by small niche companies that you've probably never heard of, who quietly produce high quality products at reasonable prices because they don't pay the good looking celebrities and spend up big on TV advertising. That's why you've never heard of them. If they started doing that their products would cost a bomb too.

But there's no need to despair. I've told you about some of the things you need to avoid when buying anti-aging skin care products. And that there are excellent alternatives. Now it's up to you. Find out more about natural skin care products on my website. - 30292

Eczema Types and Causes of Eczema

By Kris Bovay

Eczema skin conditions are fairly common. To-date there are no know cures for eczema however, natural old home remedies for eczema have been found to be effective in treating the condition. Symptoms of eczema include redness, dryness, itchnness, blisters, inflammation, and scaly or flaky skin. These symptoms can cover small areas or large areas of the body; they can also present as mile or moderate or extreme.

Causes of eczema are not known but it is known that certain events can trigger the condition. The medical history of the individual with eczema is also a factor. Triggers can vary from foods, allergies, stress, poor circulation, excessive sweat, fungal infections and more. There does appear to be a genetic factor for some eczema conditions. The good news is that there are natural old home remedies that will provide relief.

There are a number of different eczema types, which include: Contact dermatitis " a temporary eczema type related to allergies; Heurodermatitis " itchy, dry skin that is related to stress; Atopic dermatitis " this is a chronic eczema that appears to be genetic (runs in families) and that is found more often in people with asthma or hay fever; Dyshidrotic dermatitis " irritated and inflamed skin on the hands or feet; Nummular dermatitis is identified by its round, circular patches and is found most often in older adults; Sehorrheic dermatitis is a scalp condition that is also known as dandruff " the scalp becomes dry and itchy and will spread if scratched; and Stasis dermatitis " related to bad circulation, found on the lower legs (calves), dry, itchy, inflamed skin.

Eczema cannot spread through touch and it is not contagious (although some types of eczema can spread on your body if scratched, such as Seborrheic dermatitis). Since there are many causes, or triggers, of eczema, researchers have been unable to find a cure. However just as there are a number of triggers for eczema, there are also a number of remedies and treatments.

Commercial treatments are available for eczema sufferers. Some of these treatments include antibiotics, UV radiation, and steroid creams. Unfortunately most of these treatments have a number of side effects that are potentially serious.

The alternative to commercial treatments is to use natural old home remedies for eczema. Focus on cleaning, drying and soothing the skin. Use cool water to wash the area affected with eczema (hot water aggravates the skin condition). You can also use white vinegar soaks or salt soaks for cleaning, then dry your skin thoroughly. Make sure to dry the skin thoroughly and apply a no-alcohol, no-water moisturizer. Use some of these home health remedies for moisturizing and soothing eczema conditions after washing and drying: olive oil (works well if lightly applied on a cotton ball); aloe vera " use the gel directly from the leaf of the plant; evening primrose oil, lavender oil, and a plantain mixture.

You also need to focus on preventing or avoiding what triggers eczema in you. What allergies provide the trigger? Are you allergic to caffeine? To peanut butter? To nickel (nickel seems to be a common trigger)? Do you have hay fever and does it trigger a change in your skin. Is stress a trigger? Learn to avoid the things you are allergic to and to reduce and manage your stress. Avoiding eczema triggers is a much more pro-active remedy then dealing with the results. - 30292
