Is It Possible to Get Rid of Acne Scars?

By Julie M. Jackson

If you've had experiences with acne, then there is almost no doubt that you've also spent a lot of quality time with acne's distant cousin, the acne scar. As if being plagued by unsightly blemishes wasn't enough, when acne bumps fade away they often leave long lasting scars!

Acne scars cause many people to wonder whether or not they are permanent. Fortunately, the skin on your face sheds quite a few layers, so over time your acne scars will fade away. Unfortunately, this natural shedding process can take quite a while, leading many people to seek out their own cure for acne scars.

Most acne scarring is caused by white blood cells creating scar tissue after the acne blemish itself has faded away. Over the years, quite a few technologies have emerged to help fight the battle against acne scars, but for the most part these methods have been expensive, laborious, or ineffective.

One of the more commonly known scar fading methods is "dermabrasion." This procedure is typically quite expensive and pretty painful, so it isn't the most practical solution for the average person. What can make matters even worse is that after going through the dermabrasion procedure is that new breakouts can arise and create even more scars.

There are quite a few ointments and medicines that claim to relieve acne scarring, but from my experience they are almost all a waste of money. Imagine spending tens or even hundreds of dollars for small little tubse of cream that you have to apply every day for months on end, only to find out that they don't work -- that's not a very appealing scenario, is it?

On the bright side, that does not mean it is impossible to get rid of your acne scars without surgery. One treatment is called "chemical peeling" and it involves using chemical peels which are extremely effective for helping your body to quickly shed its old skin. This is probably the best method for dealing with acne scars, as all it does is speed up a process that your body would like to do on its own anyway.

Whatever you choose to do, just know that getting rid of acne scars is indeed possible. The trick is to find a method that works for you and is in a price range that you can afford. - 30292

Here's 7 Dry Skin Causes (And Treatments).

By Peter Albertonach

If you've got dry skin it's annoying isn't it? What causes dry skin? What can you do about it? Here's 8 dry skin causes and their solutions.

There's many factors that can cause dry skin, and some are much more common than others.

And you'd be very surprised at how common dry skin is, especially as we grow older, and so there are so many people searching for dry skin treatments. Some dry skin conditions are easy to treat, some not so easy.

And if you have dry skin were sure you know just how irritating it can be. Maybe your skin is all dull and flaky, red or even painful. And that itching.

Normal skin has it's own layer of naturally occurring oils. These are produced by the skin and help protect our skin. But when this layer of protective oils is removed for one reason or another it causes the symptoms known as dry skin.

So lets look at some dry skin causes. Theres some that are easy to treat, and some not so easy.

1. Long hot baths. Now of course like most women you love that bath as hot as you can stand it and for as long as you have the time. But that bath is stripping away those natural skin oils. A shower is better, not for as long and not as hot.

2. Skin care products and cosmetics. Believe it or not, many mainstream skin care products and cosmetics contain ingredients that are actually bad for your skin. If you hadn't heard about this before spend some time researching dangerous ingredients in skin care products and cosmetics.

Many ingredients actually dry our skin. An example is mineral oil. Mineral oil is a petrochemical product (ie derived from crude oil) and damages your skin, but is used because it is cheap.

You are much better using high quality natural skin care products that won't damage your skin and will help you overcome your dry skin problem much more effectively.

3. Exposure to the sun. Don't ever get sunburned if you can avoid it. Sunburn dries and damages the skin, and can lead to skin cancer.

4. Weather. Dry cold weather can dry your skin, so if you live in a place where you get very cold dry winters you may get dry skin in winter. More humid summers and it may go away. Use a high quality natural moisturizer or even better a fully formulated natural skin care range that is designed to combat skin dryness.

5. Soaps and detergents. There are many modern soaps and detergents as well as shampoos which can dry your skin. Many of these also contain ingredients that are bad for you. Avoid soaps with deodorizers, you don't need them. And the same for anti bacterial soaps. In fact avoid soaps which lather a lot and make you feel squeaky clean, these are often signs of soaps that will dry your skin. Look for natural soaps fragrance and deodorant free and keep trying until you find a soap that works for you.

6. Psoriasis, medical conditions, and drugs. Many medical conditions, like psoriasis and eczema, can cause dry skin, and some drugs can too. For specific medical conditions consult your doctor.

7. Avoid itchy clothes, they too can cause skin dryness.

So, those are 7 dry skin causes, what dry skin treatments are there? Well of course it goes without saying that for medical conditions you ought to see a doctor. But in many cases this isn't necessary.

So remember, use natural soaps and shampoos, and keep trying them until you find one that suits your skin. And remember that any time you're buying something that goes on your skin look for a natural alternative with no nasty chemicals. Natural alternatives are often cheaper and safer. And keep showers shorter and cooler.

And consider using a range of natural skin care products. The best natural skin care products contain natural oils like avocado oil and Babassu oil from the nut of the Babassu tree, both excellent and perfectly safe natural moisturizers. These will do wonders for any dry skin conditions.

But surprisingly, although the ingredients in natural skin care products are more expensive than those in regular anti aging skin care products the products themselves are very cost competitive because the small niche skin care company that makes them doesn't spend on TV advertising.

So there's 7 dry skin causes, many of which you can treat with some of the dry skin treatments I've suggested here. Combine all the strategies I've suggested together with a regime of high quality natural skin care products and you're well on your way to successfully combating that most annoying dry skin.

Breast Surgery Impact On the Psyche

By Adriana Noton

Breast surgery is probably something that at the very least runs across the mind of every woman. It doesn't seem to matter if they already have a large chest or not, bigger is better. While this surgery can do wonders for some women, it is not the be all and end all cure. Some things should be looked at before undergoing this surgery in regard to what the breast surgery impact will be.

First and foremost, the surgery has to be for you. If anyone is getting the surgery to make someone else happy, it is ill advised. That should be a warning sign that the relationship is superficial right from the start. If you cannot be accepted for who you are, then what is the point of being with that person.

A popular reason that many women use to get breast surgery is because they want to wear certain clothes. Smaller breasted women often feel awkward in certain types of dresses or tops that make them feel less of a woman. This may not be the best reason to get breast surgery, but it is perfectly understandable. It is very easy to imagine the swagger that will be added to their step once they get to wear a dress that they have only dreamed of to this point.

Self esteem is something that is thrown around quite a bit when breast surgery is talked about. This can be a dangerous path to go down as it can very easily work both ways. Whether this is successful or not may just depend on the circumstances surrounding the surgery in the first place. Women have to be careful not to expect huge changes in their lives just because they have larger breasts.

When a woman gets breast surgery because she lost a breast to cancer, the change in her will be extremely noticeable. Many times, the new breasts enable the person that had become very shy and introverted to finally be themselves again. In this case, the psyche benefits from the breast surgery.

The person that has to be very careful is someone that already has low self esteem and is very down on themselves. This is hardly the reason to get breast surgery and they are only fooling themselves if they think it is going to change their life that dramatically. This is very dangerous ground and can lead to more harm than good.

Any woman that is struggling with their life at the moment or that is trying to create the perfect body should avoid any type of plastic surgery. These women often become obsessed with the procedures and are always chasing one more improvement. Unfortunately, there are surgeons that will take advantage of this and just leave a wounded psyche behind.

While most people may not want to go through a psychological evaluation to get breast surgery, many reputable surgeons will actually require this. This gives them a little more confidence as to why the woman actually wants to have the surgery. If everything is okay in the patient's life and they are indeed having the surgery for the right reasons, the procedure will be scheduled and hopefully the woman will come out looking exactly the way she desires. - 30292

Advantages Manual And Electric Toothbrushes Are Not All Too Different

By Adriana Noton

I have an electric toothbrush. I like it. But when I travel I take my regular toothbrush. With both I make sure I do a good job of brushing my teeth. I want to make sure I do not have any problem with my teeth and I do not want to get in trouble with my hygienist. Some of the advantages manual and electric toothbrushes have might help you decide which one to choose.

Of course a manual toothbrush is less expensive than an electric toothbrush. So if money is an issue you might want to simply brush the old fashioned way. As I said I use my manual toothbrush when I travel because it is simply easier.

But you can take you electric toothbrush even without the charger if you charge it before leaving on your trip and you are back before it needs charging. Of course you can always pack your charger with you if you are going to be gone an extended period of time.

I have learned the most important part of brushing is not so much the type of tooth brush you use but that you use the tooth brush you have. Some might think that if they have an electric tooth brush then they do not have to brush as often. This is not true. You still need to brush after each meal and in the morning and before bedtime.

However, I do like that I can stimulate my gums with my electric toothbrush. I can do this with a manual toothbrush of course but it seems like I can get more action with the electric brush. Gum stimulation is good because it gets the blood flowing in your gums. A manual toothbrush is helpful as far as how much pressure you put on your gums.

I have read that if you apply too much pressure as you brush your teeth you might wear down the enamel. Enamel prevents tooth decay and as you try to fight cavities you might hasten it by putting too much pressure which wears down the enamel. With a manual tooth brush you are in more control of the pressure you place on your teeth verses an electric tooth brush.

When you are training your children on how to use a toothbrush you probably want to start with a manual toothbrush until they are old enough to know how to handle an electric toothbrush. No matter which toothbrush you use you want to make sure floss regularly.

My dentist used to have a sign up on his waiting room wall that read you do not have to floss all of your teeth only the ones you want to keep. And I have also read that you do not want to brush immediately after drinking regular or diet soda. The chemicals from the soda will wear down the enamel in your teeth when you take a brush to them. Tooth care and preventative is a very important part of overall health. Whichever brush you choose make sure to use it. - 30292

Not all people are born with perfectly aligned teeth. Bad cases of misalignment make people don't look great. Therefore, it can make people lower their self-esteem. Many people treat you good and accept you if you feel pretty, but if don't, you might find that you don't belong. Unlike previous human societies where people receive you for who you are, the modern society made their first impression based on someone's appearance.

This society's rejection can get a person lose or lower his or her self-esteem. Although self-pride is a person's general rating or assessment of his or her own worth, it also counts on the feedback a person gets from the society. If you constantly get bad feedbacks from others through rejections, these will most probably get in to your nerves and pull down your self-pride.

Teeth alignment affects people's appearance. Most beautiful people have perfectly aligned teeth and with a cheerful smile. If not that good looking, a person with a pleasant smile is most likely accepted. Beautiful smile can give you great aura and enhance your looks.

How Do You Pop a Pimple?

By Julie M. Jackson

Pimple popping - the most common solution for acne sufferers and typically the first course of action. Whether you struggle with regular breakouts or you just find yourself with a zit now and again you've most likely had a go at popping a pimple. If you've ever had less than favorable results, you're aware that there is a proper way to go about it.

First off, if you have an aggressive form of acne it may not be the best thing for you to attempt popping your pimples. Instead you should try find a treatment that can help you to heal your skin and keep your breakouts to a minimum.

Still, there is a time and a place for everything, and it is undeniable that a popped pimple can often times look much better than a large unsightly whitehead. That's why I'm going to give you some basic advice to help you pop your pimples safely, effectively, and efficiently.

Now for starters it's important that you know which pimples are safe to pop and which aren't. If you try and pop a pimple that isn't ready it could hurt and possibly leave a scar. Make sure to target the largest ones, preferably those that look as if they'll pop on their own soon.

Once you're ready to get started you'll need to find yourself a small needle (a small safety pin or sewing needle) to prick the tip of the pimple. You must first disinfect the needle with some rubbing alcohol. Once you've done this you can start squeezing the pimple from the sides with a tissue in hand for cleaning. Make sure you don't squeeze too hard and hurt yourself, if you have to the pimple may not be ready yet.

Trying to pop a pimple that isn't ready can only end poorly. The area could remain quite sore for a while after and you could be left with a deep scar. Scars left by acne tend to be much worse than the zits themselves, and they are typically long lasting.

That's it. Popping a pimple is no complicated affair, but it still pays to get the job done right! - 30292
